"Bummed", an open letter by Jordan Lindley

It feels like such a weird time for music right now. We can’t go see our favorite artists, or collaborate with our favorite people in person. But on the opposite end of that, I think that now is probably one of the most fulfilling and important times to release music. It’s one of the few things that can bring us together when we can’t physically be with one another.

There have definitely been some struggles during this time. Some days it’s hard to stay motivated, and some days it feels like you’re carrying all the doubt in the world. But the cool thing about those times is that we can be reminded of why we create in the first place. It’s so easy to get caught up in the routine of writing, recording, releasing, playing — rinse and repeat. But it’s times like these that remind us that we create because we genuinely love to do so.

My hope is that “Bummed” gives people a break right now. For me, it’s light weight. It has a happiness and hopefulness to it that still makes me smile. Whether you’re missing a person or a place or some feeling, I hope it reminds people that it’s still out there. All of this quarantine stuff is temporary, and what we’re longing for is still out there.
