Riveira

English band Riveira released their debut single “Remember”, on February 16th.

Formed by vocalist & guitarist Pol Mira, drummer David Ngochinya, bass player Craig Glynn and guitarist Louis Bell, the Brighton-based band is introducing their fresh sound with their debut single “Remember”, a blues-pop record bringing catchy melodies with infectious guitars and soulful vocals.

As the band is growing their fan base in the UK, Riveira is, without a doubt, a promising band.

“Remember” is now available on all major streaming platforms.

Introduce the band.

We are Riveira!

What made you want to form a band? What gave you the confidence to create the music you’re making today?

We all go to University together and we all have a similar mind set in what we want to do in music. We all met early last year and started jamming together and we quickly realised we had a great chemistry! We all felt confident in the music we were making so we wanted to show people what we’ve got!

How would you define the sound of Riveira?

A blues pop concoction fused with a dash of disco with sing-along choruses.

Who came up with the band’s name? What’s the story behind it?

We were all throwing about different band names and then Pol suggested Riveira and it stuck with us. The name doesn’t really have a story yet, this word doesn’t exist so it’ll only be associated with us.

Could you tell us a little bit about your debut single "Remember”? Who wrote and produced it? What’s the inspiration behind this record?

‘Remember’ is one of the first tracks we wrote together. Pol came up with the main idea of the track and we all arranged it and worked on lyrics together, then our first single was born! We recorded it at Brighton Electric in October last year with an engineer called Scott Christie who saw us live and approached us. It’s got a simple but effective message to live in the now and stop living in the past. Stop remembering what you lost but focus on what you have.

What is the number one goal with this debut single?

Our goal is for it to reach as many people as possible and for people to enjoy what they’re hearing. Hopefully get some more gigs under our belt! It’s our first release so we just want to show what we sound like!

You already performed a couple times in Brighton. How does it feel like to be able to play your own music in front of people?

It feels great to play shows and be able to share our music with new people!

What did you learn from your very first performance?

Always bring a towel cause it always gets pretty sweaty!

In your opinion, what makes a good gig?

When you’re happy and comfortable together as a band is the most important thing to us. A good crowd is a bonus as well if someone’s dancing, our job is done!

What motivates you to make music?

We can’t imagine ourselves doing anything else! We want to make music that makes people feel as good as it makes us feel.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

We get our inspiration from seeing and listening to other bands who are doing well. We all have such different music tastes, from Blues and Disco to Indie and even Metal (Courtesy of Craig and David).

What do you like the most about music?
We like how it can apply to anything, if you’re happy or sad you listen to music. It’s always going to be with us no matter what.

Who are your biggest influences?

We all have very different musical influences, Pol get’s his from Phoenix and John Mayer. Louis gets his from Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. Craig gets his from Coldplay and Architects and David gets his from Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Metallica.

How’s the music scene in Brighton? Any local artist(s) you’d like to recommend? What are you favorite venues in Brighton?

The music scene here in Brighton is great! There’s always something going on, you could go to a show every night and discover new great talent. Local artists we’d recommend would be our good friends in Lacuna Bloome and The Yellow Bellies, both amazing and talented bands! Venues we love are The Prince Albert and The Green Door Store. Brighton Dome is also an amazing venue, if we could play there one day that would be amazing!

Are you working on an EP/album? Who are you working with?

We’re currently on our next single to be released in the next few months, which could potentially lead us to an EP in the near future.

What are your goals for 2018?

Write music, play as many shows as possible and to build a fan base!
