Glendino
Hip-hop artist Glendino revealed his debut EP “#Equanimity” on June 19th.
Inspired by the likes of Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole and Pusha T, Glendino is introducing his artistry through the remarkable 7 track EP. The Atlanta-based artist describes himself as “a warm, wordsmith with a knack for idiosyncratic storytelling through sonics & stanzas. An individual inspired by his contemporaries, but rooted in his own sound”.
Produced by Mr. Pia Classics and written by Glendino, “#Equanimity” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Introduce yourself.
Hi, I’m Glendino.
What’s your story?
I’m a multi disciplined artist & micro-influencer residing in Atlanta, GA
Tell us a little about your childhood. At what point did you realize music was more than just a hobby?
Music became more than a hobby when it began waking me up in the morning; when I fell in love with the sound of my voice & knew music would be something I’d never get tired of doing. I’ve been a percussionist since primary school & throughout high school. My father played the drums; my aunt played the organ.
When did you decide to become an artist?
2011.
What gave you the confidence to make the music you are making today?
The complexities of life, the passion for music itself & knowing that by creating, I’ll be remembered. It took some time to develop my skills, but we’re getting there.
You recently released your debut EP “#Equanimity”. What’s the story behind this EP? Who did you work with?
#Equanimity was executive produced by Mr. Pia Classics, Engineered by Abstract G & written entirely by me. If you want the story, you have to listen from start to finish. More music on the way.
What did you learn about yourself after finishing this EP?
After finishing this EP, I learned that I can only grow & become a better artist from here. I learned that regardless of what’s going on around me, staying true to self is most important; on & off wax.
What messages do you want to deliver through this record?
Find balance.
How would you define hip-hop?
Hip is the intellect, Hop is the movement.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Lupe, Kanye, Andre, Kendrick, J Cole, Big KRIT, Pusha T, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane.
Describe us your writing process. How do you usually work?
I’m a writer, a puncher, a brainstormer. Depends on what the production does & how I can accompany it.
What do you like the most about songwriting?
Being able to relate to others; its therapeutic.
You grew up in Atlanta. How would you describe the music scene out there?
There’s something for everyone. We’re leading the game right now. The West coast has some fire though *pun intended*.
Who are you currently listening to? Any artist you’d like to recommend?
Yussef Kamaal, J.I.D, Earthgang, Saba, Gunna, Trouble.
What keeps you going?
The idealization of being able to reciprocate monetarily for all the times I need assistance along my musical journey. I’ve always been worth it; it’s about time I prove it to myself & everyone around me.
Any upcoming project?
Yes. 2 more releases.
In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?
Love.
What’s your purpose?
Track 5 on #Equanimity, but more importantly, to leave an impact through symbolic immortality & secure a future for those I love via my love for the arts.
