The Tailormade

English trio The Tailormade released their new EP “Life of Sampson” on May 25th.

Formed by Jack FrimstonMatt Pickersgill and Aaron Murphy, the English band released their debut EP “Little Loving” in 2017.
Produced by Chris Hewit, their second EP entitled “Life of Sampson” is a fun and energetic indie pop-rock record.

“It’s a strong indie pop sound but still fun and upbeat. We wrote one of the tracks with band The Dunwells. Wicked boys and great songwriters,” explains the band.
The Tailormade have recently been confirmed to support Madness on their summer tour as well as hitting a number of festivals throughout the UK including BST with Michael Buble

“Life of Sampson” is now available worldwide.

Introduce the band.

Hello, we’re Jack, Matt and Aaron and we’re The Tailormade.

What’s the band’s story? How did you all meet? Where are you from?

We’re all from different places, Jack’s from Blackpool, Matt is from Ipswich and Aaron from Manchester. We all went to the University of Cumbria up in Carlisle. Met within the first few days and hit it off straight away.

When did you start making music together?

Jack and Matt lived together for a few years before Aaron moved in so they would jam and write a few songs. Probably about seven years ago we started jamming.

How would you define The Tailormade?

The Tailormade is fun upbeat catchy energetic indie pop. We like harmonies and clever lyrics. We like having a laugh.

You recently released your new EP "Life of Sampson”.
What’s the story behind this record? Why did you name the EP “Life of Sampson”?

So we have a friend called Sampson and the idea of this character was inspired by him. Working a normal job but dealing with the city, heartbreak and normal life. It’s that little bit of release where you just wanna go crazy.

How did your sound evolve since your first EP “Little Loving”?

Well since “Little Loving” we’ve got in a full backing band so these guys have hugely helped us mould The Tailormade into a bigger fuller sound.

Do you remember your first gig as The Tailormade? What did you learn since then?

We first started when we entered a competition called Cumbrias got talent. We got to the final but that was it… our dreams were squashed for about a day then we started gigging again. Back then our nerves were so strong we could only ever perform if we’d had about six beers. We’re a lot better now, we only need five.

Any favorite song to perform?

Without a doubt “Golddigger” by Kanye West. Our covers a little different to the original. It’s so much fun.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

All over the place. We write about things that affect us that we see happening all over the world.

What are the best things about being in a band?

Free beer…. nah we love gigging and meeting wicked people along the way.

How do you guys complete each other?

We know each other inside out so we work well together. When it comes to writing were all usually on the same page.

What makes a good band?

It’s not necessarily about talent, it’s about passion and drive. I think we have that. We’ve made some huge sacrifices over the years.

Any band(s) you look up to?

We love Arctic Monkeys, Ed Sheeran, Jamie T, The Streets. Real British acts that smashed it.

What does music mean to you?

Music’s everything, there’s not a day goes by we don’t listen to some kind of music. Love discovering new and old music.

Any upcoming project?

We’ve got some big singles coming this year that were excited to release.

In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?

Free Beer….. or peace love and understanding.

What’s your purpose?

To make people smile.
