Foreign Geechi
Dubai-based artist Foreign Geechi released his debut single “Pot of Gold” on August 8th.
The rapper is a former member of SOS Music. After getting a significant success with the group, Foreign Geechi is now focusing on his solo project, debuting his first project entitled “Pot of Gold” produced by Ayo-Beatz.
“With this record, I wanted to give out my energy.. I have this drive and ambition inside me that I wanted to express… Aside from sharing the high energy vibes of the song, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself on my own to the world, and re-introduce myself to the supporters who have been by my side as my career went through its evolutions. This was an opportunity to establish what it meant to hear a Foreign Geechi track.”
“Pot of Gold” is now available everywhere.
Introduce yourself.
My name is Foreign Geechi, formerly known as Fresh from the SOS Music Group. I’m from Lusaka, Zambia. I’m a professional recording artist based in United Arab Emirates, Dubai.
What’s your story?
My story starts with me and my family moving from Lusaka, Zambia to the United Arab Emirates, Dubai. I was about 12 years old at the time. I fell in love with music at a very young age and have been around it for as long as I can remember. I completed my high school & university in Dubai, that’s where I met most of my music acquaintances. That lead to me joining the SOS Music Group. Thereafter, I started making music on a professional level & was involved in some successful projects. During my time with SOS Music, we were able to have a number of hit records and the biggest one was called “Abu Dabbin”. It saw a million views plus and the remix was just as successful. We performed on some of the biggest platforms in the U.A.E and there after, I turned to the solo career path that lead me to this point in my career with “Pot of Gold” & the rest I’m still writing.
What did you grow up listening to?
I grew up listening to a lot of different genres.. I combine them to give my supporters an authentic Geechi experience.
When did you decide to become an artist? Was it an easy choice to make?
I think there was always a spirit within that took time to fully understand in a conscious way about myself and music. I consumed a lot of music growing up & naturally, I needed to find out if I could make my own music. I made a couple demos.. showed a couple close friends of mine, performed at some high school talent shows and people enjoyed what I did! Thereafter, I started taking a hold of this spirit and made my talents a career slowly. There was no other choice for me but to make music because music has always been my passion and one day I decided to start making my dreams a reality.
What did your family and friends think of it?
I come from a creative family. Therefore, they always support our freedom of expression & passions. Whether it’s music or art in general. The homies are on the same mission and we support each other with whatever we are trying to accomplish.
You are a former member of SOS Music. What did these experiences teach you as a person and as an artist?
It helped me understand how to work with different musicians and as a person, it expanded my understanding of having a good team around.
