Darci releases new single "Won't"

How would you define Darci?

Darci is our therapy. Sometimes we deal with demons and rough times, this music helps us get through that. We hope it helps other people do the same. We just make what we want to hear and share it so the genre isn't that important. But we certainly draw from R&B, hip-hop, pop, and electronic music, specifically UK garage and drum & bass.

What message do you want to deliver through this new single? What can you tell us about your latest single "Won't"? What's the story behind it?

We made "Won't" one night in the studio when our phones were going off, stressing us out, and distracting us from the present moment. That’s where the idea started. The song is really about being present and ignoring your phone. But it’s also about isolation and how sometimes when you’re stuck in your own head you might shut people out. In the end, we hope people find their own story in the song.

Could you describe us the songwriting/production process? When did you start working on it?

It was a Friday night, we probably started around 7:30PM and had most of what you hear done in a few hours. I think we ended up going out that night after getting the first idea down. We ended up coming back to it a month later and adding some extra stuff but for the most part the soul of the song was captured very quickly. Typically, we start a beat from scratch, one of us writes while the other works on the beat, once we have the concept down we record from there. If the recording clicks we build on it.

What vision do you have for your art?

A lot of where these ideas come from are nights. So the vision is a nocturnal one with a focus on aesthetics and visual art that helps guide that narrative.

Any upcoming project?

We have a lot of demos we are excited about, so yeah, there is a project in the works, stay tuned.
