LENN releases new single "Riding Shotgun"

The Bristol-based singer/songwriter is back with a brand new single entitled “Riding Shotgun”, produced and written by LENN and Lex.

"The idea for this song came when I was sitting in the passenger seat of the car, driving through Bristol with my boy; It was dark outside and while the glow of traffic and brake lights were reflecting on his face, I was reflecting on how I feel about him... discreetly making notes on my phone to take into the studio,” explains LENN.

“Riding Shotgun” follows LENN’s second single “Cheap Talk” which has reached over 78, 000 streams on Spotify and received great acclaim from major blogs as well as radio support from BBC Introducing.

“Riding Shotgun” is now available everywhere.

How are you? What have you been up since our last interview?

Hi, I’m mostly good! Got some big life things going on at the moment, which is keeping me so busy, but all great things for sure.

You're releasing your new single "Riding Shotgun". What's the story behind it?

“Riding Shotgun” is basically about a specific time I was driving around Bristol in the passenger seat, and my musings on the person driving.

When did you start working on this song? Who did you work with?

I wrote “Riding Shotgun” with Lex, who I also wrote “Cheap Talk” with. We started writing it back in August 2017 and we loved the idea. We were so excited about what we had, but we couldn’t find the right chorus for months. We kept trying on it and eventually we decided we weren’t getting anywhere, so moved on. We did eventually come back to it and we just love what we ended up with.

What message do you want to deliver through this new song?

I have to say it’s less about a message.. I just wanted to convey the feeling of that moment and then share it with anyone who wants to listen.

2018 is slowly coming to an end. Any favourite memory from this year? What are the things you are the most proud of?

2018 in so many ways has been a huge year for me, so I have like a billion favourite memories. In terms of music, I’d say I was so excited to have my first radio play, and see “Cheap Talk” hit 25,000 plays on Spotify… it’s up to almost 80,000 now (!!!). I feel like every single I’m releasing is better than the last, so I’m so hyped for “Riding Shotgun” and can’t wait to see what happens.

What are your plans for 2019?

2019!!!! I am so ready and want to hit the ground running. I’ve actually been able to spend very little time in the studio this year, but I’m going to have a lot more time and energy to pour into music next year. I have new material well underway and I have to say I’m already excited for it. Each new song I work on is helping to develop my style and I’m realising what I like and how I want to write. Each release is a step up from the last, that’s the goal.
