NOA
Following up her debut single “Casual” released last year, Canadian artist NOA is back with a brand new single titled “Hypocritical”.
Co-written by NOA, Kayla Diamond and Craig McConnell, “Hypocritical” was inspired by NOA’s personal experience.
“In a post-breakup state, it’s so easy to get hung up on wanting your ex back, or at least not wanting him to move on, but in reality, whether you recognize it or not, you’re likely already moving on,” says NOA.
The Toronto-based artist was recently on Season 2 of CTV’s hit show “The Launch” where she worked with American record executive and entrepreneur Scott Borchetta (Big Machine Records) and Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic).
With this latest release, the Canadian singer/songwriter delivers an unforgettable record by highlighting her dazzling vocals with efficient pop melodies.
NOA is, without a doubt, an artist to watch.
“Hypocritical” is now available worldwide.

Introduce yourself - where are you from?
Hii!! I’m NOA and I’m a pop artist from Toronto, Canada!
What's your story?
As an artist and songwriter, I want to give others a voice through my writing. Life can be hard and I want to create art that people can relate to and know that they’re not alone and not the only ones going through whatever it may be!!
Could you describe us your childhood a little bit? Any favorite memories?
My childhood was filled with art and family. Lot’s of playing outdoors in nature, painting, dancing and making music. One of my favorite memories is when my siblings and I would build a little stage in our basement and set up chairs as if it was a theatre. Whenever we had guests or family would come over we would make them buy tickets to our show and watch while we put on a mini concert.
How would you describe yourself today?
Hardworking, positive and honest.
When did your love for art and music begin?
My love for music and art has been present for as long as I can remember. My mom always played piano and sang with me when I was little. That definitely fostered my love of music.
When did you start singing?
My mom always tell me that at 3 years old, I’d be sitting in the back of my mom’s car singing along to the songs on the radio.. In perfect key too… haha. So I guess around then.
How would you define NOA, the artist?
Fearless, positive, and gutsy.
Could you tell us about your first experience in the music industry?
I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston for my undergrad. That experience was an incredible introduction to the music industry. Having the opportunity to learn first hand from some of the most amazing, accomplished musicians (who were my professors) such as Livingston Taylor and Paula Cole is something that was super special and something I’ll always be grateful for.
What did your time on the TV show The Launch teach you as a person and as an artist?
Stay true to yourself always.
"Hypocritical" is your new single. What's the story behind this song?
‘Hypocritical’ was inspired by my own breakup aftermath; the realization that everything I didn't want my ex to be doing, I was doing myself.
In a post-breakup state, it’s so easy to get hung up on wanting your ex back, or at least not wanting him to move on, but in reality, whether you recognize it or not, you’re likely already moving on.
You worked with Craig McConnell and Kayla Diamond on this song. When did you start working on this song together? How was it like to work with them?
Craig and Kayla are so incredibly talented and I’m very grateful to have them on this project with me. I think songwriting is all about finding your ‘songwriting family’ and that’s exactly what they are to me. We wrote this song at the end of January 2019. It was actually our first studio session working together when we wrote this song. Everything flowed so easy in the session and within about 3/4 hours we had the whole song written and vocals tracked.
What made you want to release "Hypocritical" as a single?
I feel like the concept resonates with so many people and on top of that it’s packaged in such a fun, sassy, light hearted way. Good summer vibes for sure.
What do you like the most about this song?
The way we rhyme the words ‘hypocritical’ with ‘physical’ in the chorus.
“I’m probably hypocritical, because I've been getting physical”.
What can you tell us about the artwork?
The photo was taken by the incredibly talented Dorta Photography. My aesthetic is all about less is more. I wanted a simple yet intriguing cover art that showcased the duality of my “Hypocritical” thoughts. The way the light in the photo casts a shadow on my face, to me illustrated the two sides of my thoughts.
How would you describe the music scene in Toronto? Any artist(s) you'd like to recommend?
I love it. Toronto’s music scene is amazing. SO much talent and so many incredible artists to look out for. Some favourite right now are Jon Vinyl, Kayla Diamond and Nate Daviau.
Where do you feel the most yourself?
Performing on stage, singing my songs!
What are the things you are the most proud of?
Seeing my growth and persistence as an artist. Also, being on The Launch CTV was pretty cool. And watching myself on The Launch on the Air Canada inflight entertainment system on the plane last week!
How do you want to be remembered for?
My honesty, melodies and fearlessness.
In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?
HUGS. MORE LOVE!!!! <3 <3 <3
What biggest life lessons have you learned so far?
Never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot be and trust your intuition always.
