Rosemary Joaquin

Nashville-based artist Rosemary Joaquin unveiled her new single ‘A Little More’ on January 17th.

With the help of Chelsea Balan, Brandon Meagher and Tebby Burrows, the singer/songwriter created her most personal record.

“In 2018, I was 23, just out of college, and had never been in love. I came to Nashville more sure of myself than I'd ever been and I was ready to let someone else in. I wanted to know what it felt like to love someone. I'd lie in bed at night sometimes and wonder: Who would he be?  What would he look like?  Will he be all that I imagined? In 2019, I learned the answers to those questions. She was nothing like I pictured. She was nothing like I imagined. But this song is for her,” expresses Joaquin.

By revealing her true self through this new single, Rosemary Joaquin is introducing herself as an honest artist who is not afraid to share her vulnerability with the world.

‘A Little More’ is now available on major streaming platforms.

Hi Rosemary, what have you been up to since our first interview?

I released two singles that I’m very proud of “Sleep Without It” and “Hate That I Love You”. “Hate That I Love You” was very memorable release for me.  The song was a duet I did with Ben Schuller, another local artist here in Nashville. The folks at Waffle House heard it, and put us on their TouchTunes jukeboxes, as well as let us film our “Hate That I Love You” music video at one of their Waffle House Nashville locations. Then, I played at their Second Annual Tunie Music Awards in October. So this song definitely opened a lot of doors for me as an artist… especially with the people who make the best waffles!

“A Little More” is your new single. What’s the story behind this song?

The story to me is about finding oneself, and the idea of falling for someone that you did not expect. Last year I moved to Nashville and met this girl that changed my view on life and who I was. And now she is my girlfriend.  Although it is a really personal song for me, I think a lot of people, no matter what kind of relationship they are in, can relate to this story.

What did you feel when writing this song?

This is actually the only song that is about myself that I’ve ever written so it was therapeutic to put what I was feeling to a melody. Not only is the story really important to me, but with this song, I think I finally found my sound. It is the first song that I have put out where I sound the way I want the world to hear me.

Who helped you create this particular song?

Chelsea Balan, Brandon Meagher and I first met in the studio and then later Tebby Burrows joined in to make it the perfect team. Everyone had the same vision and when I left I knew we had written my next single:

What do you like the most about “A Little More”?

I had been searching for my sound for a while. Although I love my first few singles, this one is the first to really capitalizes on my lower, velvety voice.

What message do you want to convey through this song?

If you learn something shocking about yourself, something that you never expected....Lean. In.

What can you tell us about the artwork? What was the inspiration?

I love the idea of using roses because my name is Rosemary. Sometimes an image with the name helps you remember. Also I know that it is common in a relationship to give each other flowers, and my girlfriend and I are no exception. We often give each other a rose: The album art just so happens to be the picture of the rose I got from her when she asked me to be her girlfriend.

Releasing new music can be a “scary” thing, what gives you the confidence to share new music with the world?

I really believe in this song. I think it is something new that listeners have not heard from me yet.

What are your goals for 2020?

With this song I found my sound. I hope to keep releasing music that I am proud of and makes me as happy as this one does.
