Kacey V
I first interviewed Kacey V for her debut single “Jealous” and after hearing her second single, I knew I had to feature her once again. I always loved her smooth and soulful vocals so I was pretty sure I would love this new single “Patient”. It’s an instant smash with timeless melodies and a solid production inspired by the 80’s. Hearing this record also makes me think of these pop records of the early 2000’s, which are some of my favorites records. It’s a feel good song, and we all need that right now.
I really hope more people will get to know Kacey V and her music. She’s a promising artist/songwriter who knows how to write GOOD pop records, and her voice is phenomenal. So make sure to keep an eye on her, she’s worth it :)

Hi Kacey, how are you? What have you been up to since our first interview?
Hey! I’m doing well. I was in the studio finishing up some more songs and then came the pandemic! I was able to quarantine in NYC with my family and continue working on music remotely. I also started doing yoga, which has been amazing in keeping me relaxed and focused (in addition to watching The Office a million times).
"Patient" is your new single, what's the story behind this song?
I wrote “Patient” about wanting to settle down into something real – and about wanting to be the best version of yourself in a relationship.
Could you describe the songwriting/production process? Who helped you create this particular single?
I wrote this song on the piano and brought it to my amazing producer, Michael Robinson. We agreed early on that we wanted to add some 80s vibes to this song while keeping the synth-pop sound as the foundation of the production. It was so much fun to bring this song to life!
What made you want to release "Patient" as a single?
It felt like the perfect single to follow my debut single “Jealous” and to release as an end-of-the-summer bop to dance to, to blast in cars, and sing to in the shower!
What do you like the most about this song?
I love the production! Exploring the 80s vibes was new for me, but I loved every moment of it. I definitely danced to it every time I was in the studio!
What is your goal for this single?
My goal for “Patient” is to offer people some more music to dive into during this uncertain time. Music is what I turn to when I need an escape, want to feel understood, or simply just want to dance and have fun, so I hope that “Patient” can do that for people.
What major life lesson have you learned so far?
I’ve learned to prioritize my mental health and happiness, no matter what.
What are your thoughts on today's global situation and on the Black Lives Matter movement?
Thoughts on today’s global situation: #wearadamnmask and VOTE!
Thoughts on the BLM movement: I stand with the BLM movement, and I am dedicated to continue listening, learning, and taking action. One of my favorite quotes is “I understand that I will never understand, however I stand.” For me, that will always be true.
What message do you want to give to the world?
Be kind, compassionate, empathetic, and focus on action. Just because something’s not happening to you doesn’t mean it’s not happening at all. We need to listen to each other’s stories and experiences with an open mind and heart. A little love can go a long way.
