Greg Gutty
Greg Gutty is a singer/songwriter from Virginia. Inspired by artists like Tupac Shakur, he makes music for the people and for the world. He’s being a voice for our generation and for music in general. I have done a video interview with him last year, but he recently released his debut album ‘Ready For The World’ and I felt like interviewing him again and get to know a little bit more about him.
Introduce yourself. How and when did you start making music? How’s the music scene in Virginia?
I started singing at age 5 with my cousins. We had a quartet gospel group singing Spirituals up and down the eastcoast of America. We performed together for about 10 or 11 years before we all parted ways. However, I kept pursuing my dream…Started playing guitar about 5 years ago. The music scene in Va is a great place to get started if it’s your hometown but it’s not organized.
Which artists do you look up to? Why?
Bob Marley and Tupac Shakur because of what they stood for and we represent the same thing, uplifting the people in bondage and oppression. But I love all music and all sorts of artists; country to blues, rock to pop and hip hop.

What keeps you motivated to make music?
Passion is a major reason I do music today and the purpose behind my music keeps me going. The people need this message.
If you had to change something about this music industry, what would it be?
Freedom, being able to put out the music that’s truly in the artist’s heart; to create instead of what’s being controlled to degrade the culture of blessed people.
Tell us about your album 'Ready For The World’. How would you define it?
It’s my very first album to ever be released and it’s about life and what we go through at times. The title of the album came from a song that’s on the album called 'Ready For The World’..Just felt like I was ready to face what the world had to offer.
What can we expect to hear/see from you this year?
More videos from my first album, a spring/summer tour and my 2nd album towards the end of the year.
What makes you happy?
Yhwh and serving Yhwh.
What is your motto?
Life is what you make it! Lets make it Alright!!
