Devin Kennedy

It’s Summer time. The world has been through a lot. We need music now more than ever. We need Summer records that will make us escape reality for at least 2 minutes and 58 seconds.

But before I write about Kennedy’s new single, let me take a moment to say a few words about him. He’s definitely one of these artists that have been featured on my blog more than 3 times and he might be the artist I featured the most on my blog and social media reunited, and I will tell you why.

I instantly believed in him. It's amazing how much this guy has grown musically and artistically since 2018. I always loved how consistent his work was/is and how hard he works. All his work, dedication and talent haven't been unnoticed. I always say that talent isn't enough, you also need to have an insane work ethic (among a few other things) to make it out there, and he has all that. He keeps getting better every day and his songs are getting bigger (I will always be a fan of his first singles though). I’m not going to talk about his latest achievements here but I’ll just say his career is going in the right direction, and I think it’s also because he found the right team to work with, and that’s pretty amazing.

As I am listening to his new single while writing this, I can tell "Deep Shit" is the beginning of something different and big - I say this every time he releases a new single so I’m not really objective here - but my point is, this record is going to lead him somewhere great.

This single is different from his past releases (but the DK signature is still here. And if you don’t hear that signature right away, go back and study all his previous singles 🙃). I was surprised (in a good way) but at the same time, I wasn't surprised to hear this "change" - knowing his musical backgrounds and his growth as an artist in general. So this release makes perfect sense to me.

It’s cool and brilliant, and it has that Californian vibe I love. It is that perfect Summer tune you will certainly blast on repeat in your car.

“Deep Shit” is for the carefree spirit that we all have within us,” Kennedy says. “Telling someone how you feel can be terrifying. This song is about taking that leap of faith and letting that person know, regardless of the outcome.”

I also want to take a minute to talk about his visuals for a second. Ever since the release of "No Parachute", his visuals have been totally on point. Like I once said in one of my previous articles, it's important to have visuals that match the songs, and Kennedy has been doing this perfectly.

You get it. Everything this guy has been doing is right on point.

It's been exciting and beautiful to watch his journey and I know he has so much more to share with the world. Now go listen to “Deep Shit” all Summer ☀️
