Izzy Strigel

Izzy Strigel’s unique tone is what caught my attention the first time I heard “Boston Girl”. And the more the song progresses, the more you realize how this record is going to be massive and addictive.

Izzy Strigel definitely stands out from the crowds with her great vocals and her ability to create colorful melodies.

“Boston Girl” is available now.

Introduce yourself - what's your story?

My name is Izzy Strigel, I’m 22 years old from North Carolina originally but now staying in LA. I grew up playing music, sports, and causing trouble.

What did you grow up listening to?

I grew up listening to a variety of artists. My first CD ever was Elephunk by the Black Eyed Peas. I also had an obsession with Amy Winehouse for a bit.

When did you know you had to be an artist and release your original music?

I don’t know how to explain it but I’ve always known. As a baby, I was obsessed with music and nothing has changed. It’s my calling. i can’t see myself doing anything else.

Could you list a few records that influenced the music you are making today?

“Where Are You Now?” - Justin Bieber and Diplo, “The Way I Are” - Timbaland, “Latch” - Sam Smith.

Who was the first person to ever believe in your music?

My mom.

"Boston Girl" is your latest single - what's the story/inspiration behind this song?

Boston girl is actually about a girl I met in Boston. I was out there visiting my childhood friends for Halloween. They threw a Halloween party and she showed up with a mutual friend of mine who introduced us. We talked at the party and had chemistry. Later that night we ended up going to a couple bars and ended up kissing on the dance floor. After that we went home together and embarassingly, I was smitten. I was leaving back to LA the next day and the whole trip back I kept thinking about how I had to come back to see her.

Could you describe the songwriting/production process for this song? Who helped you create it?

Shoutout Boston girl for this one. I’m kidding, also not, but I worked with my amazing producer Nicholas Belvis. I told him my idea and showed him a couple songs on Spotify that I liked and he created this insane beat while I wrote behind him. We have a really great artistic chemistry and it was awesome seeing the vision come to life.

What's your favorite lyric on "Boston Girl"?

My favorite lyric is "girl you got that mass appeal" because of the double meaning of mass (Massachusetts).

What can you tell us about the artwork?

The artwork was from a photo shoot that I did a couple months before. It was one of my favorite shots from the shoot.

As an artist, what is the hardest part? And what is the best part?

The hardest part of being an artist is having to constantly put yourself out there and create content. It can be hard to find a balance of what you want to stay personal and what you want to share with everyone. But at the same time, I am able to connect with so many people by doing so which is awesome. The best part is performing and seeing people sing your songs. It makes it worth everything.

What are your thoughts on today's music industry? If you could change one thing, what would it be?

The industry is changing a lot with all the different ways that music can be played. TikTok is a huge factor in the game now and learning that game is a beast within itself.

What biggest life lessons have you learned so far?

Be who you are.

In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?

Everyday kindness.
