Lucky Rose
French/Canadian duo Lucky Rose has released their latest single “I Don’t Think About You”. The new single has the potential to be one of the greatest pop/electronic records. It’s massive, catchy and empowering. Kaleigh’s melodies and vocals perfectly complement the brilliant production.
Lucky Rose recently signed with Ultra Music and I’m super excited to see/hear their upcoming music.
But for now, let’s stream “I Don’t Think About You” on repeat :)
Introduce the band - what's your story?
Lucky Rose is a French Canadian duo consisting of producer Vincent Carrier & DJ Marc-Antoine Thibeault. Wе would probably describe our signature sound as a mix of bright beats, catchy hooks and organic instruments. Vincent actually started out as a solo artist in 2015, when he released The Way You Want Me and Wild One. The positive energy that these two songs were meant to convey really resonated with millions of listeners from around the world. However, while still working alone, Vincent felt that something was missing. It was not until he was joined by Marc, a DJ with live performance experience that the project really began to take shape, forming Lucky Rose - the band as you know it today.
How would you define Lucky Rose, the band?
In essence, Lucky Rose generates good vibes. You know that feeling you get in the summer, when the sun warms your skin, and everybody is out on the streets dancing and just enjoying their time? We are here to remind you of that feeling, of better times, and brighter futures.
"I Don't Think About You" is your new single - what's the inspiration behind this single?
When we first started working on this song, we knew that we were trying to capture an emotion, but couldn’t quite pinpoint what exactly we were trying to say just yet. It wasn’t until the extremely talented singer and songwriter Kayleigh became our collaborator on this track that we were sold on the idea and the message behind it. This song is primarily about the challenges of opening up and being vulnerable with someone you love. As with most of our songs, you can listen to I Don’t Think About You whether you’re in a great mood or a terrible one, falling in or out of love, meeting someone new, or getting over an ex.
Could you describe the songwriting/production process?
We actually had the guitar written for a couple months before our first session with Kayleigh, and we were just saving it for the right moment. As soon as she heard the song, she started singing the opening line, “I don’t wanna break your heart..” pretty much on the spot. Less than two days later, we had already written and recorded our first version of the song.
How was it like to collaborate with Kayleigh on this song?
Working with Kayleigh was probably one of the best parts of writing I Don’t Think About You! It was immediately obvious to us how incredibly talented she was both as a vocalist and songwriter. We definitely hope this is not the last time we get to make music together.
What's your favorite thing about this song?
I think it all comes down to the three main components that make this song great, For starters, the soft and catchy guitar riff immediately grabs your attention and really helps convey the dream-like quality of the song. Then, there is the catchy hook that will likely be stuck in your head for days after you first hear the track. Finally, there is the vocal performance. Kayleigh did a fantastic job at conveying the intense emotions embedded in these lyrics with her voice.
What message do you want to deliver through this song?
That it is important to trust your instincts, when it comes to romance. If you have a bad feeling about someone and think that trusting them might make things worse for you in the long run, then it’s better to walk away to avoid getting hurt. Things will always workout with the right person.
You recently signed to Ultra Music - how does it impact your career today?
We always saw Ultra Music as a powerhouse label that churns out some of the world’s greatest Dance hits. So it was really exciting for us to work with a team of people who are not only knowledgeable, but also extremely passionate about the work that they do. We feel truly lucky to be able to have access to so many talented songwriters, artists, and producers to collaborate with within Ultra’s network.
What are your thoughts on today's music industry? If you could change one thing, what would it be?
Here, we’ll say just one thing - less industry, and more music!
What biggest life lessons have you learned so far?
Definitely the importance of trusting your instincts and not giving up on the pursuit of your dreams. It might take a while to get to where you want to be in life, but being persistent and believing in yourself is bound to get you there eventually.
In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?
Watching the world around us becoming as divided as it has been, especially in the past year, really makes us want to emphasize the importance of mutual respect and understanding that is so often lost, when tensions are on the rise. We believe that it is important to learn to respect people from all walks of life; people who might look or act or think or feel differently to you. Only by honoring each other’s differences will it be possible to achieve unity and peace in our societies.
What message do you want to deliver to the world?
The importance of intuition. Of trusting your gut. Of following what feels right in the moment, without overthinking it too much. Your intuition will always guide you towards the right answer, you just have to find the patience and the courage in yourself to listen to it.
