Hi ORKID, how are you? What's your story?

Hiii ! I’m good, how are you?

I was born in the northern part of Sweden in a little town called Östersund. My parents always said that I was singing before I could even speak, as if music was my first language. I’ve always known I was meant to be an artist. I didn’t attend a music school or so I just paved my way into the industry, meeting some extraordinary people along the way. I’ve searched nearly a decade trying to find my sound and developing my songwriting and since my mom passed three years ago, I feel like her spirit became a part of my music helping me find my true voice.

"Bed of Roses" is your latest single - what's the story/inspiration behind this song? When did you start working on it? Who helped you create "Bed of Roses"?

“Bed of roses” is about my parents having one last day together, I wanted to create a world where they could. This song came shortly after my mom’s passing about 2,5 years ago and I wrote it together with my talented dear friends Tobias Reinerstam and David Kjellstrand. I remember we sat down that day and I said “I don’t want us to think today, we’re not gonna have a reference or compare it to what works today, let’s just write and produce whatever feels the most today. “Bed of roses” is their anthem, a glitch in time where they have a space forever.

What did you feel when recording this song?

I remember feeling so strongly about this song, it was unlike anything I’ve ever done before there was a special buzzing in the air that day as this song kind of paved the way for my whole sound. There was a weight of it being good enough for them, I remember being so annoying with the lyrics because I wanted it to be grand and metaphoric in a very beautiful way. That’s when the title came in “Bed of roses” as in “make me a bed of roses forever and always I’ll wait for you” bury me here and I’ll wait here for you forever until we meet again. I remember I called my eyes out after writing this one.

What do you want people to feel when listening to this song? What message do you want to deliver?

I want it to feel like an endless car ride with the most breathtaking view you’d ever could imagine with a sense of piece and hope. A place you can visit and hold that space for a loved one you miss. You’re not alone and if not in this life time, you’ll see them in the next.

What can you tell us about the artwork?

It represents my continued existence, I'm not in a cold grave, but in a bed of roses. While my mother may be physically gone, her presence is always with us. I carry these roses everywhere, a reminder that she is still here, always surrounding us with her love.

You're getting ready to release your new EP Where Flowers Grow - what can you tell us about it? What different topics are you talking about on this project?

Where flowers grow is about different stages of grief and events from this time, trying to be as transparent as possible about all the ugly that comes with but also giving a sense of hope and helping others that have been through the same. Everything is not written on the nose- since my sound will progress as well as my songwriting I won’t be writing about this forever cause my life is not all grief. So I wanted to leave space for the listener to interpret.

What does music make you feel?

It’s so much more than any spectra of emotions that I could never describe with words. It’s my life long therapist, my best friend, the love of my life.

As an artist, what is the hardest part? And what is the best part?

For me it’s been hardly getting by, working multiple jobs at the same time to survive and no days off. The best part is getting to do what I love and working with all the amazing people I’ve had the chance to create with. Being a part of every stage of the music, the visuals, the brand, everything.

What are your thoughts on today's social media? How does it impact your career?

I feel like we have to adapt but at the same time it makes me very sad for artists. Nowadays most of the people who make music are kinda awkward and weird, that’s why we use music to speak/use our feelings. I guess it’s just trying to find something that works for you if you’re not super outgoing/ wanna do a “get ready with me” vid (laughs). I know some artists who uses their platforms in a very smart and creative way on their terms. I still struggle with that but I guess it’s like finding your sound, now we also have to find our tone on our social media platforms.

What advice would you give to young songwriters out there?

Many of us are our own harshest critics, but we never cease to evolve. I feel like I’ve reinvented my sound and perspective countless times, striving to express what truly comes from the heart. Remember, you are always progressing, so embrace the courage to represent who you are in this very moment.

What biggest life lessons have you learned so far?

Call them, tell the people you love that you love them, life is short and everything can change in a second.

In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?

More compassion.
