It was a great surprise for me to discover Kings & Hooligans. Their new single “On The Way” is an instant banger. I love these types of records when you instantly know the song is going to be huge after hearing the first few seconds. The production and the melodies are incredible and it’s a song you want to listen on repeat. It’s a feel good song. It’s catchy, it’s fun and it’s a song that makes me happy. I’m super excited to hear more music from Kings & Hooligans.

“On The Way” is available now - go stream it on repeat and tell your friends/family about it !! :)

Hi !! How are you? What have you been up to?

Hi there! We’ve been great. We’ve been having  some pretty awesome jam sessions lately and getting ready to release some new music.

You've just released your new single "On The Way". How did this collaboration come about? How did you guys meet?

This group all started with Sydney (drums) and I bumping into each other on a gig. Sydney introduced me to Three Bubble (vocalist) who owns a recording studio here in Houston. Three and I immediately hit it off and discovered that we have really strong creative chemistry. We also found out that we had several mutual friends that are extremely talented. That being Hodge (vocalist) and Joey (keyboards). So we all had a meeting and discussed putting all of our talents together to create a new and original sound. After deciding that we would put a band together we met Steelo Scheme (vocalist) in a recording session one day. We collaborated on one song and the rest is history. We knew at that point that he had to be on everything.

Production wise, what was the inspiration?

The inspiration for "On The Way" definitely comes from feel good late 80's early 90's vibes. We definitely wanted it to sound big and dramatic like some of the old records from those eras.

What's your favorite thing about this single?

It's really hard to pick one thing. I love the chorus on this song but I think the chords from the piano and the drums are tied for my favorites.

What made you want to release "On The Way" as a single?

Popular demand.  Everytime we play this song for someone the reactions are so positive. It just seems to make people feel good.

What can you tell us about the artwork?

The artwork was put together by my manager Felicity. I think it's perfect the way she used the open street to symbolize that we are heading to a destination.

What is your goal for this song

The first goal is for sure to go number 1 worldwide. After that, I would just love to know that this song moves people somehow.

As an artist, what are the biggest struggles?

For me personally the struggle over the last year has been trying to tune out all of the BS of the last year. I'm definitely hoping to manifest more positivity for 2021.

What are your thoughts on today's music industry?

I think there is a lot of really great music being created right now.  There is also a lot of garbage though. I don't think I would change anything. I feel like there is a time and place for all things.

Why do you make music? What keeps you going?

I make music because I love it. It's 100% the love for the music that has kept me going all these years.

In your opinion, what makes a "good" song?

In my opinion a good song requires intention. You have to intentionally want to make something special. I love songs that are original and make me feel something.

What advice would you give to young artists?

I would tell all young artists to find their voice and their own sound as soon as possible. Even though we are all inspired by other artists, it's very important to have your own creative identity.

What do you want to accomplish professionally and personally?

Personally I want to do more traveling once the pandemic blows over. Professionally I'm looking forward to seeing Kings & Hooligans have a billboard number 1.

What biggest life lessons have you learned in 2020?

Live life to the fullest and do the things that make you happy. You never know when a life changing event may happen and you don't want to end up saying, "I wish I could've....".

What are your goals for 2021?

The goal for 2021 is most definitely to release a body of work with Kings & Hooligans.

What message do you want to deliver to the world?

Live life to the fullest and don't sweat the small stuff. Life is short and we are only here to be fruitful and multiply.
