QUIETLOVE

I’m super excited about this release because it’s an artist I’ve been following for a while. He was in the band Navigate The Sky and he recently released his debut single as a solo artist.

QUIETLOVE’s first single is called “The Dream” and it’s about the personal struggles of chasing a dream.

Catchy and captivating, QUIETLOVE’s debut single is introducing the Toronto-based artist as a solid songwriter/artist.

“The Dream” is now available worldwide :)

Hi Brendan, how are you? What have you been up to?

Hi Virginie! Doing well despite Toronto being under lockdown for quite some time (ugh), just trying to stay busy. Writing, producing, reading, starting a new project *wink wink* to pass the time.

You're about to release your debut single as a solo artist - what made you want to work on your solo project?

Funny thing is it wasn't really premeditated at all. I woke up one day and said 'I'm going to finally put these songs that sit on my hard drive out into the world', and everything has unfolded super naturally from then on, to be honest.

How does it feel like to release your debut single as QUIETLOVE?

I'm so excited for the world to hear what I've been up to. Also, SO nervous. It's a journey into the unknown. I haven't released anything by myself since 2012.

How would you define QUIETLOVE, the artist?

QUIETLOVE is really just an extension of myself. A persona I created so I could freely express myself without limitations. Also because nobody could ever pronounce my full name hahaha.

What's the story/inspiration behind "The Dream"?

I said in a conversation with a close friend, "I just don't wanna lose myself to the process". And that sparked the song. I think we all have battles with self-doubt sometimes, it's a huge part of growth.

Could you describe the songwriting/production process for this particular song? Who helped you create it?

I wrote and produced this song in my bedroom, and later sent it to the amazing Jack Emblem [Daniel Caesar, Jesse Gold, Devan] who really helped bring the song to life. Dan Weston [Shad, Classified, Tribe Called Red] on the master. The Dream Team (literally and figuratively).

What do you like the most about this single?

How personal it is. It's not just another love song, it's about the personal struggles of chasing a dream.

What is your goal for this first single?

To inspire others to also step out of their comfort zone and try something new. Hoping others can relate to how I felt when I wrote this song.

What are your thoughts on today's music industry? If you could change one thing, what would it be?

Things are rapidly changing all the time. Even within the 10 years I've been in the business, it's completely different from when I started. I think there's a lot of pros and cons. We can now be a fly on the wall throughout an artist's entire creative process, which I think is amazing. But, try selling a CD nowadays.

What biggest life lessons have you learned so far?

To get out of your own way. I think we all tend to think it's 'us vs the world', but it's really just 'us vs ourselves'. Take risks. Do that thing. Life is so damn short.

What message do you want to deliver to the world?

Thank you for reading this - I hope you enjoy my new single. Tell your friends. Share it if you can. I appreciate every single one of you.
