M.A.G.S

M.A.G.S is the solo moniker for Elliott Douglas, indie rock artist/multi-instrumentalist.

Originally from Buffalo, NY, the musician released his self-debut record in 2017. M.A.G.S included the well-acclaimed track “Drugs” which garnered over 5 millions streams on Spotify.

More recently, the LA-based artist released his 4-track EP titled Lost Tapes, with the bonus track “Gaslighter”.

"I try to make music that cuts through the noise, brings you comfort when you need it, reminds you of memories both fond and not...I want to give my fans something to attach their feelings and memories to," he says.

With a brand new album on the way, M.A.G.S is continuing to create feelings and memories through his authentic records.

Lost Tapes is now available worldwide.

Introduce yourself - what's your story?

My name is Elliott. I'm from Buffalo, NY and I started making music as M.A.G.S. back in 2014. I released an EP called Cellophane in 2015 and my self-titled LP in 2017. (You may have heard my music on shows such as Shameless, The Flash and Teen Mom). Most recently I released an EP titled Lost Tapes and I am currently working on my second LP.

What did you grow up listening to?

Having grown up in the church, I wasn't allowed to listen to a lot of secular music until I was about 17. So a lot of the bands I was discovering at this point were like Christian Rock hybrids, and Underoath was huge for me. Then I moved into listening to a lot of Coheed and Cambria, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, The Shins, and Circa Survive.

When did you start writing songs? What made you want to write in the first place?

I started recording my own songs when I was about 16. My whole family is musical - we would always be singing together and making up our own songs so songwriting was just a natural thing once I started getting more serious about music.

How would you define M.A.G.S., the artist?

M.A.G.S. was never supposed to be an alias. It was a band name at first, but now it feels like a persona that I can put on and take off and put myself in a different headspace to create and perform. M.A.G.S. is the part of me that's not afraid to speak up and talk about real shit.
