I’ve always been a fan of guitar tracks and after hearing the first few seconds of “Bad Luck”, I knew I would love it.
I love how this track was built. After each hook, you expect this to go to another direction and you expect a big production but it stays where it is, and that’s why I really like this song. It’s simple, but yet smart. Erin Kirby’s vocals are powerful, soulful and beautiful. I listened to all her released songs the other day and I was blown away by her vocals. In fact, I cried listening to her “All I Want” cover. Fucking incredible. I am only discovering her music but I’m excited to hear more from her.

Introduce yourself - what's your story?
Hi! My name is Erin Kirby and I am a pop singer/songwriter. I absolutely adore what I do! I started my music journey in pageants. I decided to enter talent in my 3rd pageant and knew that music was for me from the moment I hit the stage. I now create meaningful and relatable songs for everyone to listen to.
How would you define Erin Kirby, the artist?
Erin Kirby is a lover of music. She has a strong passion for what she does and cannot breathe without music. Erin creates pop songs that are heartfelt and emotional.
"Bad Luck" is your new single - what's the story/inspiration behind this song?
“Bad Luck” is a song that talks all about you having a special someone who is your bad luck. We have all had a person in our lives that we know is bad for us, but just can’t seem to admit it or let them go. That is exactly what this song is all about.
When did you start working on it? Could you describe the songwriting/process for this single?
I started this song over Facetime with JVKE and his brother Zac Lawson in September of 2021! Due to quarantine FaceTime sessions are a must.
How was it like to collaborate with JVKE?
Jvke and his brother are super great to work with! I love writing with them and every time we create a song it’s a blast.
What's your favorite thing about this song?
I love the line, “Roll my dice, and called your bluff”.
What made you want to release "Bad Luck" as a single?
I wanted to release “Bad Luck” because it has such a cool vibe and it is a collaboration (which always makes songs better)
What can you tell us about the artwork?
The cover art is broken glass from a mirror. Because when you break a mirror is it bad luck!
What's your goal for this single?
I hope that this single is heard and loved by many. Hopefully it will help listeners get rid of that toxic person that is holding them back.
How would you define Pop music?
Pop music to me has a piece from genre. It always has a smooth flow and is easy to remember.
As an artist, what are the biggest struggles?
Patience!!!! You have to be patient in the music business and it is super difficult. I wish I could release all of my songs tomorrow but unfortunately I cannot.
What are your thoughts on today's music industry?
The music business is always changing and something new happens every day!
What appeals you the most about being an artist?
I love that I get to do my favorite thing every day! Music is the best!
What do you want to accomplish professionally and personally?
I want to tour! I am so ready to sing my songs for many on stage with my band. Performing is my favorite thing to do.
What biggest life lessons have you learned in 2020?
2020 taught me to not be afraid when trying new things. I learned a lot about myself as an artist and I am so happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone when creating songs.
What are your goals for 2021?
I want to learn the piano and hopefully start to tour.
What message do you want to deliver to the world?
Always go for your dreams. That sounds cliche, but it is cliche for a reason! God gave you a gift so make sure you take advantage of it and do what you were placed on this earth to do.
