Ella Rosa

I first interviewed Ella Rosa in 2021, so it’s been quite some time but I’m happy to feature her once again on my little music blog ! She has evolved so much these past few years and seeing her growth as an artist is super exciting. Her newest single “STAY 4 LOVE” is out now and it’s fusing r&b with that UK garage influence that I truly love. “STAY 4 LOVE” is super unique and refreshing. Go take a listen now !

What's the story/inspiration behind this song?

I wrote “STAY 4 LOVE” after one of those embarrassing nights where nothing seemed to go right. It was failure after failure. The embarrassments just kept escalating because I was trying to get the attention of someone—I definitely won’t do that again, (laughs).

Could you describe the songwriting/production/recording process? Who helped you create it? When did you start working on it?

I worked on “STAY 4 LOVE” with Anwar Sawyer, Donny Bravo, and Max Margolis. We’re all very aligned genre-wise, so the track almost felt like it made itself.

What did you feel when recording this song?

Sexy and feminine!

What's your favorite part about this single?

I love how the song's opening sets the scene perfectly — it really paints this vivid picture of someone having a shitty night out.

What can you tell us about the artwork?

The artwork was shot by Hannah DeVries. I wanted to capture that over-the-top, try-hard energy, so we went with a playful, tongue-in-cheek concept of being in an office setting while trying to look sexy.

What do you want people to feel when listening to this song?

Empowered and fierce! I hope people have fun with this song.

How did your sound evolve over the years? How would you describe it today?

I feel like I’ve come full circle in my musical journey. I started out making electronic music while training in opera, and now I’ve found a way to blend those early influences into my current sound.

Could you list a few records that influenced the music you are making today?

Definitely. Two tracks that come to mind as big influences are Disclosure’s “You & Me” and Shygirl’s “Cleo,” among so many others.

What biggest lessons have you learned in your career so far?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned in my career so far is that patience is a virtue.

What can we expect to hear/see next from you?

I’m hoping to hit the road soon, hopefully for a support tour. Stay tuned!
