Hi JEONA, how are you? What's your story?

Hey there! I'm doing great, thanks for asking. Well, my story starts in a small town where I was surrounded by music from a young age. My parents were both music lovers, so I grew up listening to a wide variety of genres from pop to rock to soul. I remember feeling a deep connection to music early on, like it was speaking to me in a language I could understand even when words failed me.

Do you remember a specific time in your life where music made huge difference?

One specific moment that stands out is when I was going through a tough time in high school. Music became my solace, my escape, and my source of strength during that period. It was then that I truly realized the transformative power of music and how it could uplift me.

Could you give a list of some of the records that influenced the music you are making today?

There are so many, but some key ones include Prince's "Purple Rain," Justin Timberlake "20/20 Experience"," and Silk Sonic"An Evening With Silk Sonic." These albums not only shaped my musical tastes but also inspired me to create music that resonates on a deeper level.

When did you know you had to be an artist and release your original music?

I always knew deep down that I wanted to be an artist and share my original music with the world. It wasn't a specific moment, but rather an ongoing realization that music was my calling and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

"FOMO Free" is your new single - what's the inspiration/story behind this song?

"FOMO Free" is a song inspired by my own struggles with anxiety and the constant pressure to be perfect, especially in the age of social media. It's about letting go of those fears of missing out and embracing who you truly are, flaws and all.

Could you describe the songwriting/production process for this song? When did you start working on it?

The songwriting process for "FOMO Free" started at the summer of 23' in London with a simple melody on the piano and evolved from there. I collaborated with some incredibly talented producers & songwriters who helped bring my vision to life, layering in smooth instrumentals and catchy hooks. Actually, the whole EP named "FOMO Free" as well was purely made on a trip to London surrounded by nothing but music.

What did you feel when recording this song?

Recording "FOMO Free" was a cathartic experience for me. It felt like I was finally releasing all those bottled up emotions and insecurities into my music. I always wanted to create sort of a safe space with music and I finally feel like FOMO Free allows me to do so.

What's your favorite lyric on "FOMO Free"?

One of my favorite lyrics from the song is: "I might loose some friends to this, let's see who sticks". It encapsulates the theme of self-acceptance and liberation that runs throughout the song combined with acknowledging that by doing so the real friends will be the once still hanging around.

What message do you want to deliver through this song? What do you want people to feel when listening to it?

Through "FOMO Free," I hope to tell a message of self-love and empowerment. I want listeners to feel inspired to embrace their true selves and let go of the pressure to fit into society's standards.

What can you tell us about the music video? Where did the inspiration come from?

We embarked on a journey that not only reflects the playfulness of the song but also takes viewers back to my roots and youth. We incorporated elements from my childhood, including scenes reminiscent of carefree days spent immersed in video games and other nostalgic pastimes like dressing up and pretending to be a Cowboy. These moments serve as a reminder of a time when worries were few and far between, leaving a sense of innocence and joy. By combining these nostalgic elements with the theme of overcoming FOMO, the video aims to give a message of reclaiming that carefree spirit and living life with authenticity and freedom.

What are your thoughts on today's social media? How does it impact your music career?

Social media can be both a blessing and a curse for artists. On one hand, it allows us to connect with fans and promote our music on a global scale. But on the other hand, it can also fuel feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. It's all about finding a balance and staying true to yourself in the middle of all the noise. Navigating social media as an artist, especially when promoting a song like "FOMO Free," presents a paradox. On one hand, these platforms are invaluable for reaching audiences and sharing meaningful messages. Yet, they can also fuel feelings of FOMO and inadequacy, which the song seeks to combat.

What can you tell us about your upcoming EP?

My upcoming EP is a collection of songs that delve into themes of identity, love, and self-discovery. Each track is deeply personal to me, and I can't wait to share them with the world.

As an artist, what is the hardest part? And what is the best part?

The hardest part of being an artist is staying true to yourself in a world that's constantly trying to mold you into something else. But the best part is being able to connect with people through music and inspire them with your story.

What are your thoughts on today's music industry? If you could change one thing, what would it be?

I think it's evolving rapidly, which presents both challenges and opportunities. If I could change one thing, it would be to create a more fair and inclusive industry that supports artists from all backgrounds.

How's the music scene in Denmark? Any artist(s) you'd like to recommend?

The music scene in Denmark is vibrant and diverse, with a wealth of talent waiting to be discovered. One artist I'd recommend checking out is MØ, whose unique blend of pop and electronic music is truly captivating.

What biggest life lessons have you learned so far?

The biggest life lesson I've learned so far is to embrace vulnerability and authenticity in everything I do. It's okay to be imperfect, to make mistakes, as long as you stay true to yourself.

In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?

Empathy and understanding. If we could all learn to see things from each other's perspectives and treat one another with kindness and compassion, the world would be a much brighter place. Let people be who they are and let's celebrate each others differences.
