Jordi

Jordi has just released her debut single and it’s THE perfect pop record (in my opinion). “Hate You” offers timeless and captivating melodies, and the production beautifully complements Jordi’s vocals. “Hate You” is a song I want to keep listening over and over.

It is only Jordi’s first single but I am already super excited about her upcoming music. “Hate You” is going to be huge, there’s no doubt about it. Congrats Jordi on this very promising debut single !!

“Hate You” is now available everywhere.

Introduce yourself - what's your story?

Hi! I’m Jordi and I’m a 19-year-old from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I started out as a dancer and pretty much grew up in the dance studio. I’ve always been drawn to doing something creative, whether it’s singing, dancing or making funny content. I’ve always known that I had a passion for being on stage and performing. In 2018 I started posting comedy videos on TikTok and they started taking off almost instantly. Over the years I’ve been able to grow an amazingly special relationship with my fans and I am so excited to share my first single, “Hate You,” with them as music is such a big part of who I am!

When did you know you could sing?

I feel like I’ve been singing around the house for my whole life! But I’d say that I really started to sing when I was about 9 and then got more serious about it when I was around 11. I went through a lot of trial-and-error trying to find my sound, especially as my voice matured as I got older. I’m forever working on growing as a singer!

Growing up, what were your favorite songs to sing along to?

I’ve always loved singing along to Adele songs! I love singing ballads because they feel so good to sing and they vocally feel the most expressive.

When did you start writing songs?

I started messing around with songwriting while I was in middle school, although they weren’t the best songs in the world because I was 12! But I kept working at it and realized how much I loved being able to set my feelings to rhythm.

Who was the first person to ever believe in you?

Definitely my mom! She has been my #1 fan my entire life. She’s been so supportive and always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. She constantly reminds me how special I am and she’s instilled confidence in me from the beginning. I definitely would not be where I am without her!

What gave you the confidence to be an artist and release your original music?

Although releasing my original music is kind of scary, it’s something I’ve dreamt about for so long that I genuinely could not be more ready for people to hear it!

"Hate You" is your debut single - how does it feel like to release your first single ever?

Terrifying, but in a good way! It feels very surreal to even think about putting the song out in the world. I’ve been waiting for this day my whole life and I just hope everyone loves this song as much as I do!

What's the story/inspiration behind this single?

I wrote this song about a heartbreak I went through. I was on my way to the studio and the idea of “hate how I don’t hate you at all” came to mind. I hadn’t been able to write a song that fully expressed how I felt until this one. I hope that everyone screams it at the top of their lungs in the car at 2AM because that’s the only proper way to sing it!

Could you describe the songwriting/production process for this single? Who helped you create it?

I wrote “Hate You” with Nate Cyphert and Riley Biederer — they are both such incredibly talented songwriters! We sat down and instantly connected on an emotional level which is why I think the song is so vulnerable. Rob Grimaldi and Leo Mellace really made the song come alive with the production too! The build up throughout the song is just so beautifully done.

What's your favorite lyric on "Hate You"?

One of my favorite lyrics in “Hate You” is “underneath the games you played I know that you’re thoughtful, and that only makes this worse, I wish you were awful.” It’s much easier to get over someone when you know they are a horrible person but I think this lyric really captures the pain that’s in knowing they have a good caring heart but they still hurt you.

What made you want to release "Hate You" as your first single?

I want for “Hate You” to be a song the listener can interpret for their own situations. I want listeners to be able to hear it and cry if they need to. It was definitely an emotional process for me while making this song and I really felt something the day I wrote it. I’ve known since the beginning that this song was very special to me.

What's your goal for this first single?

My main goal is I just want people to feel something while listening to it — whether it’s anger, sadness, confusion, hurt or whatever it is they need to feel. I want people to listen to it and feel like I understand exactly what they went through because I’ve been through it too

What's the best advice you've ever received?

As cliche as it sounds, to just be myself. I think that so many people feel the need to try to fit into a category of something they’re not.

What biggest lessons have you learned this year?

Well, I’ve been through a lot this year. I think something I’ve learned is that just because it’s over doesn’t mean you stop loving them. You can’t unlove someone that you truly cared about. I’m still healing and learning about my heart but what I do know is that what you’re afraid of often reveals where you trust God the least — I’ve definitely been working on putting everything in his hands.

What can we expect to hear/see from you next year?

I’ve been writing so much music and working towards so many upcoming things! I can’t wait to share more music very soon!

In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?

If boys stopped making me cry!
