Omido x Ex Habit
I caught up with Austrian artist/producer/DJ Omido to talk about his recent releases. His latest single “PLEASE” was released last month and it features artist/singer/songwriter Ex Habit.
“The song is about a secret relationship that’s built on mutual desire; that indescribable attraction that overpowers any sense or sign of logic. It’s drunk calling the person you know you really shouldn’t be calling just because you can’t resist. It’s dark, hot, right and wrong at the same time.” explains Ex Habit.
On this single, Omido delivered another big production while Ex Habit offered brilliant melodies. “PLEASE” is a smash and I am hoping to hear more collaborations from them.
We can expect more releases from Omido very soon, but for now, let’s keep streaming “PLEASE” :)
Hi, how are you? What have you been up to since our last interview?
I've been producing music nonstop with a lot of different artists. I'm pretty much networking and working all the time !!
"PLEASE" is your latest single - what's the inspiration behind this single?
As in most of my songs the inspiration is love. The idea is to portrait love in every form and aspect. The good, the bad, the one which gets you high and the one that makes you feel broken.
What made you want to collaborate with Ex habit on this song? How did you guys meet?
Omido:
I randomly heard one of his songs on my Spotify radio and absolutely fell in love with his song "bad girls".
I instantly connected with him on instagram and a few months later I sent him an idea I've been working on. His vocals turned it into the dark pop song it is now.
Ex Habit:
When Omido first sent me the “please” beat, I loved the energy but felt like I was in a different headspace at the time. Recovering from heartache, I tried writing but lyrics and melodies didn’t bleed out of me like they should. A month or so passed and I found myself in a romantic affair with an ex, an affair different from ones I’ve had before. We had to keep everything secret and pretend we’re not talking to everyone else. Coming around to “Please” with a different, more lustful state of mind made everything work.
I think Jan hit me up on Instagram and ever since then we’ve been in contact. He’s been my mentor in the world of music, whenever I have a question or need advice I text Jan. Likewise, I’m always happy to offer the same back, Omido is one of the coolest and most talented producers out there.
What's the story behind the song "Troublemaker"?
I'd love to tell you but the beauty of art is the way you interpret it. Who am I to take that beauty away from it?
As an artist, what is the hardest part? And what is the best part?
The hardest part is actually making good music. The best part is.. making good music.
Who's helping you build your career and artistry?
Life in general is pretty inspiring. This and my steady urge to become better.
Apart from that there are a lot of friends I annoy on a regular basis with my music. I love them for bearing with me. Big thanks to Cloudkid and Trap Station too. They have been a great support the last two years.
Why do you make music? What keeps you going?
There was never the option to not make music honestly. I have always wanted to become a musician since I was a little dude.
Inspired by Kurt Cobain, Bring Me The Horizon I picked up the dusty electric guitar my father gifted me with and started shredding it (horribly bad).
Sometimes I do want to stop and just bin the whole project but something (God knows) always drags me back to the studio.
Any upcoming project(s)?
I might have a few upcoming projects with Cloudkid this and next month. Stay tuned.
